The Fifth Scary Saturday Night Out was held at the Manatee Convention and Civic Center in Palmetto, Florida. Not long after Katrina, popular New Orleans singer, Irene Sage, displaced by the hurricane, arrived in the area just in time for she and her musician husband, Scott Conklin, to join the cast for the show and furnish the entertainment for the after show party.
While hurricane warnings cancelled every event venue in the area, this SSNO show went on. Amazingly, an audience of 1000 did not let the hurricane warnings keep them away, but came to enjoy performances by professional singers, Laurie Fetzer, Chadwick, Duane Freeman, Mary Galvano, and Donna Freeman, all part of an awesome zombie act with 40 SNO volunteers. Fabulous performances by the West Coast Civic Ballet, and Kelly Dunnington’s group called, the China Dolls rounded out the show.
